Send someone else. I am insignificant. Choose somebody who people will listen to, because this message is too great for someone like me. These are the words of Juan Diego after he visited with our Lady the second time. Mary chose Juan Diego because of how small he was. Think of who God chose to be the mother of his Son. He did not pick the Emperor of Rome. He did not pick the high priest of the temple. He chose the humble little virgin Mary to be the queen of heaven and earth, and mother of God.

Over and over throughout the Bible, God chooses the weak to lead his people to victory. He often chose the second son, or the insignificant farmer in the field. To the prophet Jeremiah he said, “say not, ‘I am too young.’ To whomever I send you, you shall go. With my power to build up and to tear down.” Our Lady humbly accepted the will of God by saying, “Let it be done to me according to your word.” Juan Diego humbly accepted the will of God through Mary by carrying the roses to the bishop so that he would see the sign he had requested. Now it is our turn.

Will we humbly accept the will of God through Mary? We honor Mary as the mother of God and our mother, and we ask her to pray for us now and at the hour of our death. We entrust ourselves to her loving care at the moment when we know we will need her the most. Now it is time for us to put our faith to action. This great feast has brought you to Mass to honor our Lady and worship her Son, Christ the Lord. If we are going to imitate Juan Diego and the Virgin Mary, that means we will come back to Mass again on Sunday. We will devote ourselves to prayer and we will entrust ourselves to the care of the Virgin every day.

Do not think that we are done. There were approximately 3000 people who converted to the Catholic faith every day for about 7 years nonstop after this apparition. What is preventing this conversion from happening here in Sweetwater today? When we entrust ourselves to our Lady and humbly accept the will of God the Father, he will overcome the enemy by his great power. So let us pray that we too may be instruments in the hands of the Lord that all people may come to worship Jesus in the Eucharist.

Con mi poder para construir y derribar.” Nuestra Señora aceptó humildemente la voluntad de Dios diciendo: “Que se haga con mí según tu palabra.” Juan Diego aceptó humildemente la voluntad de Dios a través de María llevando las rosas al obispo para que viera el cartel que había solicitado. Ahora nos toca a nosotros.

¿Aceptaremos humildemente la voluntad de Dios a través de María? Honramos a María como madre de Dios y nuestra madre, y le pedimos que ore por nosotros ahora y en la hora de nuestra muerte. Nos confiamos a su cariño en el momento en que sabemos que más la necesitaremos. Ahora es el momento de poner nuestra fe en acción. Esta gran fiesta os ha llevado a misa para honrar a nuestra Señora y adorar a su Hijo, Cristo el Señor. Si vamos a imitar a Juan Diego y a la Virgen María, eso significa que volveremos a la misa el domingo. Nos entregaremos a la oración y confiaremos cada día al cuidado de la Virgen.

No creas que hemos terminado. Aproximadamente 3000 personas se convirtieron a la fe católica cada día durante unos 7 años sin parar tras esta aparición. ¿Qué impide que esta conversión ocurra hoy en Sweetwater aquí? Cuando nos confiamos a nuestra Señora y aceptamos humildemente la voluntad de Dios Padre, él vencerá al enemigo por su gran poder. Así que recemos para que nosotros también seamos instrumentos en manos del Señor y que todas las personas vengan a adorar a Jesús en la Eucaristía.
